Upon our last review, their privacy policy and license agreement had been updated less than one month prior which is a sign of being buttoned up and staying on top of obligations to both users and regulators.
Smartproxy’s Privacy Policy lists each and every cookie that its site uses, including the cookie name, duration and purpose. We love seeing this kind of transparency from proxy companies.
Most of SmartProxy’s products include a 14 day money back guarantee. Unfortunately, this kind of offer in the proxy industry can be subject to abuse from nefarious actors and surely creates extra work behind the scenes for the team. The fact that they offer this is a very ‘above-and-beyond’ service level offering.

1. What is the Review Score?
The Review Score is a proprietary analysis that takes into account both objective and subjective inputs from three sources: the proxy provider, our review process and customers of the proxy company.
2. Why is it Important?
The primary reason is safety. We put a lot of effort into trying to identify providers who might be up to nefarious things. There are too many horror stories out there of providers who disappeared overnight and / or were doing nefarious things on their network. Once a safety baseline is established (generally a score of over 80), you can use the Review Score to assess potential providers based on the things that matter to you.
3. How You Should Use it?
The Review Score is not a be-all, end-all. If you are comparing providers that have a score of 92 and 95, you should not use the score to 'break the tie'. You should instead focus on the specific features and needs you have. The Review Score, however, is a good way to think of different classes of providers. And sometimes a lower review score might be better. If you are looking for cheap proxies and don't care about speed or other issues, then you don't need the blue chips. That's ok. The Review Score is one data point you should use in making your decisions.
4. How is it Calculated?
Good question! We're not telling. :) However, we say that trust is the most important thing. Using a proxy service has risks when you don't know what the company behind it is up to. We're trying to vet out the bad actors for you.
