Databay Review: Established in 2023, Databay may be a newcomer to the proxy industry, but they’re already shaking things up with innovative features and forward-thinking policies. Early adopters are impressed with their competitive pricing, precise geo-targeting (including GPS coordinate level filtering), and robust APIs – which we love to see out of such a young company. Databay blends fresh ideas with their standard services, indicating their ability to address niche needs and move the space forward.

GPS-Level Proxy Filtering: Ultra-Localized Data

Users who need ultra-localized data should take a serious look at Databay’s GPS coordinate level proxy filtering capabilities. That includes companies who do local SEO, ad verification and market research, where accurately simulating traffic from specific areas matters. Whether you’re running ads in targeted cities or verifying content based on exact location, being able to pinpoint data down to the neighborhood level provides superior accuracy and insights. Databay’s proxies enable businesses to collect location-specific data with higher precision, offering an edge over broader geo-targeting options. This feature makes Databay’s proxies a powerful tool for location-specific data collection.

Innovation in Policy: Crypto, SLA and KYC

Our Databay review highlights their forward thinking policies. According to their legal documents, a KYC is required for “risky” payment methods like credit cards and PayPal, but not required for “less risky methods” like cryptocurrencies. This unconventional approach (and their somewhat edgy and humorous wording of the policy) earned a virtual high five from our review team. Databay is forward thinking and have a keen understanding of where the tech world is headed.

It’s clear Databay has invested heavily in the legal side, something you don’t see with fly-by-night operations. This helps ease concerns about their relative newness in the industry. Notably, they are one of the few providers with a published Service Level Agreement (SLA) – a move we wish more seasoned providers would adopt. Kudos to Databay for setting this standard early on.

One highlight from our Databay review is their Service Level Agreement (SLA) for customer support, which guarantees response times within 0-12 hours for high-priority issues. While it’s impressive that Databay offers a customer support SLA (something many established providers lack), their support hours are limited to 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM GMT+7 (7:00 AM to noon EDT). This may be ideal for U.S. customers but could pose challenges for users in other time zones.

Many other proxy providers offer 24/7 support (which doesn’t necessarily mean live support), so this limitation is worth considering based on your needs. Although Databay does offer support through their Discord channel, in our experience, we were asked to wait for an admin to submit a ticket at 1:20 PM on a Monday, suggesting that immediate support outside their core hours could be lacking.

There is limited input from customers regarding support, so it’s hard for us to evaluate further.

Pricing: Affordable Entry Without Big Commitments

While there is not a lot customer feedback available from Databay users, they’re offering some of the most affordable pricing we’ve seen for residential proxies. At just $5 per GB for their pay-as-you-go plan, it’s one of the best entry points if you’re looking to get started without committing to a larger package.

Other providers might require you to buy in at 50GB or more to get that pricing. They don’t offer a trial, but at these prices, it’s a low-risk way to test out their service without a hefty commitment upfront. It seems like Databay is positioning itself to compete on both price and performance, and we’re watching closely to see how they stack up.

API: Simplicity and Transparency

While Databay’s public API may not offer the full feature set of some competitors, it’s designed with usability in mind. Thanks to its Swagger interface, users can easily evaluate how well it fits their needs and implement it quickly and efficiently.

Trust and Future Outlook

Overall, our Databay review shows a promising new player in the proxy space.

It’s not unusual for a young company like Databay to have a limited internet presence, and we don’t see it as a major red flag. When reviewing trust factors, we consider how transparent a company is and how they handle their legal obligations. Databay checks those boxes, using real names (at least in their interactions with us) and being a registered business in France. They make contacting them easy via phone, email, or even mail. We’re excited to revisit and expand our review as they establish their foothold in the industry!

If you’re looking for innovative geo-targeting, competitive pricing, and easy API integration, Databay stands out as a promising option. Their investment in legal policies makes us more confident recommending them compared to other newer providers.

Review Score Explained

What is the Review Score?

The Review Score is a proprietary analysis that takes into account both objective and subjective inputs from three sources: the proxy provider, our review process and customers of the proxy company.

Why is it Important?

The primary reason is safety. We put a lot of effort into trying to identify providers who might be up to nefarious things. There are too many horror stories out there of providers who disappeared overnight and / or were doing nefarious things on their network. Once a safety baseline is established, you can use the Review Score to assess potential providers based on the things that matter to you.

Should I always choose a company with the higher review score?

Absolutely not. First figure out which companies meet your needs. The review score just alerts users to some potential issues they should look into. This doesn’t mean the potential issues are relevant to you or even valid.

There are cases where a company with a review score of  7 might be a better fit for you than a company with a score of 9. Focus on the specific features and needs you have. Below a score of 7, we generally do not even partner with or promote sites and you should exercise caution if you see a red score.

How is it Calculated?

Good question! We’re not telling. 🙂 However, we say that trust is the most important thing. Using a proxy service has risks when you don’t know what the company behind it is up to so we do as much vetting as possible from independent resources and our own research. The algorithm will grow over time.

Can proxy companies buy a higher review score?

Absolutely not. They cannot buy higher rankings in the ProxyMatch results either. While we do take company input to help us better understand their offerings, they cannot request higher scores. We do review our scores periodically and when providers make changes to policies or offerings.
