Databay Review

91 / 100

Review score

Our Databay review was limited due to the French Company only being established in 2023, but we found some very positive indicators that boosted this new company into our top rankings.

PickAProxy is funded by commissions earned when you make a purchase, at no cost to you, after clicking our links to merchant sites.

Databay was established in 2023 and is a new player in the industry. Therefore, there’s not a lot we can say or verify regarding user experience or quality of their network in our Databay review. However, with limited customer input, users seem to be pretty happy with the Databay proxy service though.

Databay Review: Pricing

If you want to be among their first group of brand ambassadors, you will be rewarded with lower than normal pricing on residential proxy plans. At just $5 / GB, their pay as you go 1 GB residential proxy plan is one of the lower get in prices we have seen in all of our residential proxy reviews.

With other providers you have to commit to larger plans (more in the range of 50 GB to hundreds of GB). You can use rotating IP addresses or sticky IP addresses. Low prices are a good thing because they don’t appear to offer a trial. It will be interesting to see if Databay is coming after the other providers who are targeting that balanced sweet spot between price and quality. It sure seems like they are.

Databay Review: Policies and Technology

In our Databay review of technology and policies, we were very impressed. They are innovative, being among the first proxy service providers offering geo-filtering by GPS coordinates rather than just country or city. While it’s just one feature, we love seeing edge use cases addressed like this. It’s a good sign that a company is listening to its customers and not afraid to try new things.

Databay’s innovation goes beyond unique features and expands to their policies. Their policies state that a KYC is required for “risky” payment methods like credit cards and PayPal, but not required for “less risky methods” like cryptocurrencies. After reading this part of their KYC policy, we chuckled, then sent a virtual high five across the Atlantic Ocean in the direction of the Databay team. This kind of against-the-grain thinking tells us something positive about the corporate DNA of DataBay. They seem to have a deep understanding of where the technology industry is headed.

The public API documentation is expansive and allows you to assess whether their service is going to work for more complex integrations you would like to make. For a young company, the power of their API is impressive and we found the documentation very easy to navigate.

Databay has some of the most expansive policies in the industry and presents them very clearly for prospective users. This investment in the legal side of the business is a great sign. Fly-by-night operations don’t invest in legal, so this has mitigated, for us, any concerns about how young the company is. Additionally, Databay is one of only a few proxy network providers that has a published Service Level Agreement. While it does not cover the network itself, it does provide commitments for response times for customer support. This is something we would like to see from more of the established players in the industry, but kudos to Databay for coming right out of the gate with it.

Databay Review: We Need More

It’s not overly concerning, given Databay’s young age, that there is a low internet presence. When we look at trust factors in our Databay review – and all of our proxy reviews – we consider how out-in-the-open the company is and how they approach their legal obligations as a factor. Internet presence can take time.

In this sense, we like that Databay uses real names in our (admittedly limited) experience with them and that they are a bona fide registered business (in France). They make it easy for you to contact them through phone, email or snail mail. We look forward to expanding our Databay review as the company grows and finds it foothold in the industry!

ProxyMatch

ProxyMatch helps you filter through our ranked proxy providers to find the best provider for your company’s needs. Try It Now

1. What is the Review Score?

The Review Score is a proprietary analysis that takes into account both objective and subjective inputs from three sources: the proxy provider, our review process and customers of the proxy company.

2. Why is it Important?

The primary reason is safety. We put a lot of effort into trying to identify providers who might be up to nefarious things. There are too many horror stories out there of providers who disappeared overnight and / or were doing nefarious things on their network. Once a safety baseline is established (generally a score of over 80), you can use the Review Score to assess potential providers based on the things that matter to you.

3. How You Should Use it?

The Review Score is not a be-all, end-all. If you are comparing providers that have a score of 92 and 95, you should not use the score to 'break the tie'. You should instead focus on the specific features and needs you have. The Review Score, however, is a good way to think of different classes of providers. And sometimes a lower review score might be better. If you are looking for cheap proxies and don't care about speed or other issues, then you don't need the blue chips. That's ok. The Review Score is one data point you should use in making your decisions.

4. How is it Calculated?

Good question! We're not telling. :) However, we say that trust is the most important thing. Using a proxy service has risks when you don't know what the company behind it is up to. We're trying to vet out the bad actors for you.
