Review score

Our Oculus Proxies review turned up some great savings and pricing policies that are consumer friendly and clear.

Our Oculus Proxies review showed some really great prices and clear policies.

Oculus pricing is rather competitive and their pricing policies are even better. For example, for their residential proxy network, which uses real residential proxies as opposed to ISP proxies, you can get in at $2.50 per GB at the low package rate of just $25 for 10 GB. This kind of pricing usually requires a much larger commitment from other providers.

Similarly, for just $300, you can get that price down to $2 per GB for a total of $300. But the real “savings” here comes in with their their 3-month usage policy. Instead of a monthly recurring charge, they give you 3 months to use the data for most plans (Dedicated datacenter and ISP Premium Proxies are one month only) you paid for which is extremely customer friendly.

Additionally they have a 100 MB free datacenter proxy plan that gives you up to 5 proxies and 99.9% uptime for shared datacenter proxies. While these proxies might not work for every use case and authentication is tied to your whitelisted IP addresses, this is a great way to get some free proxies from an established company rather than some strange random web site where you don’t know what else is happening with your internet connection.

In our Oculus Proxies review we found an API, but the documentation was not as clear as some other sites make it. Customer support reviews for Oculus proxies are good – and we’ve found their team to be extremely responsive as well – so hopefully their are there to answer questions where the documentation might be lacking.

They have a no refund policy, which is not an issue in and of itself, but it is printed in white text on a white background, which is a little weird to say the least. We’d like to see a more clear declaration of the no refund policy so users know about it.

The Oculus Proxies team has a Discord channel with an impressive 27,400 members. It’s unclear if these are all users are actual followers, but that’s a very large number. They have various support channels in Discord to cover FAQ, integrations and billing as well as other technical troubleshooting topics. There is also a “proxies chat” channel where customers discuss various use cases they are working on and issues they have with specific sites which is surely a good resource for other users. The team is active in this Discord.

An Oculus Proxies review of social media imprint on other networks is low in terms of activity and presence, but we’d rather see that they have this one well developed support channel. It seems to be a great resource for their users and probably is for anyone using proxies.

1. What is the Review Score?

The Review Score is a proprietary analysis that takes into account both objective and subjective inputs from three sources: the proxy provider, our review process and customers of the proxy company.

2. Why is it Important?

The primary reason is safety. We put a lot of effort into trying to identify providers who might be up to nefarious things. There are too many horror stories out there of providers who disappeared overnight and / or were doing nefarious things on their network. Once a safety baseline is established (generally a score of over 80), you can use the Review Score to assess potential providers based on the things that matter to you.

3. How You Should Use it?

The Review Score is not a be-all, end-all. If you are comparing providers that have a score of 92 and 95, you should not use the score to 'break the tie'. You should instead focus on the specific features and needs you have. The Review Score, however, is a good way to think of different classes of providers. And sometimes a lower review score might be better. If you are looking for cheap proxies and don't care about speed or other issues, then you don't need the blue chips. That's ok. The Review Score is one data point you should use in making your decisions.

4. How is it Calculated?

Good question! We're not telling. :) However, we say that trust is the most important thing. Using a proxy service has risks when you don't know what the company behind it is up to. We're trying to vet out the bad actors for you.
